Entry for September 24, 2006: Be Angry and Do Not Sin

You know, there is such a thing as righteous anger.  And it isn't a reason to be mad at people.  Neither is it and excuse to walk around mad at the world.  To be angry and sin not is God's admonision to us to use the emotion of anger He gave us to prompt action.

You see the Lord doesn't want us to be angry and go out to take a wrong decisive action against something any more than He wants us to be lazy and do nothing.  God wants us to get mad at sin.  To get stirred up at the devil and take poistive actions against the schemes of the enemy.  Remember that your enemy "seeks to destroy you" like a roaring lion after its prey (1 Peter 5:8).  We must realize wrongly placed and wrongly used anger is one way Satan can do just that.

"Be angry and do not sin."  As soldiers we're disciplined to fight.  We know how to engage in battle.  And that's exactly what the Lord wants.  Get mad for combat.  But not so mad that you lose site of the objective.  Not so angry that you lose focus in battle and get defeated.

We need  to be angry at 6,000 babies being killed in abotuaries daily.  We need to be angry at genocide, homocide, rape, drug selling, child abuse, spousal abuse, pornography, crime and so on.  But we can't jump into the Batmobile, neither can we put on red leotards and a blue cape and fly out to fight crime.  And it's not very wise, even though Hollywood would have us think we can, to bust down doors and shoot up the bad guys.  Criminals frequently have bigger and more guns and the police might just confuse you for a criminal.  But we can take a stand.

We can pray.  We can prayer walk our neighborhoods.  We can train our children and our friends and neighbors.  We can actively by being visible and present, take back our streets.  We can speak to fellow veterans who have anger issues when we know the Lord has set us free or is setting us free from a spirit of anger.  We can work together to bring peace to our homes and families by making ourselves accountable to a trusted fellow Christian.

Anger is a God given emotion to promote us action.  Not something to be perverted by the devil to cause us to falter or fall.  Let's talk more...contact us at the links on the web-page or me at frank@cedarvalleypointman.org
