Entry for September 16, 2006: At Times Silence Can Be Golden.

"To everything there is a season...a time to keep silence, and a time to speak." (Ecclesiastes 3:1,7; from "God's Little Devotion Book for Men")

Army soldier Joseph Cannon was reported by a 1994 Air Force Times as receiving only one payceck in a six year army stint.  It seems he never once complained about not receiving any pay, except only the one payment in basic training.  Officials discovered that the soldier's pay record had been lost at his original duty station.  After living in just the barracks and eating only in the messhalls, he took care of special needs by occasionally borrowing a few dollars from relatives.  Cannon believed that as long as he took care of his job, the "higher ups" would take care of him.

An observer reported, "It is apparent that Cannon thought his room and board was all the compensation he was to receive."

Whether this was a massive attack of ignorance or a simple case of trusting in authority the importance of this lesson is that there is a season for everything.  A time that everything is to take place.  It frequently takes a lot of wisdom for most of us to understand the times we are in; the "season" of life.

Perhaps that should be our prayer,  "Lord, show me the season I am in.  Show me where in my life I am and what is the plan You have for me." Then trust God to accomplish that plan.

By the way, Cannon was given an outprocessing final paycheck for $103,000.

Won't you contact us at www.cedarvalleypointman.org so we might have the opportunity to talk with you about your seasons?  Do you need to talk about a new season of life with Christ Jesus?  We're available for that too.

Wow, that had to be hard to do. I started out just getting $25 a month for necessities, and could never make it stretch far enough. Frank, give us some of your thoughts on Anger with God, like when you try to bargain with God saying Lord if you get me through this battle I will be a devout follower, then your buddy next to you dies and you become so Angry at God that you refuse to ackowlege his existence. I know it is futile to try to bargain with God. Even so I think sometimes at least he does answer our request only to have us turn around and make slight of it. Oh it was just luck, or it was the doctors that saved me, anything but giving God credit. Then we turn our anger against him for what we failed to ask for. Had we asked for salvation for all of us, or was that bargain we muttered in the heat of battle in the promordial fear of dying only to save ourself? MM

Mike, This just might make an excellent study since so many of us deal with anger and especially anger toward God. I'll pray and see where it goes. Be blessed Bro.
